I travelled from Ireland to visit Mr Lambert for a consultation with regards to a long standing (3+ years) and very complex shoulder issue. Firstly, I want to say that personally I have never experienced the level of care that Mr Lambert provided to me in my life. He was so intrigued in my problem, he listened to everything I had to say then pondered on what I had just said and provided the most simplistic yet insightful answer that anyone could comprehend. However, one thing in particular stood out to me about Mr Lambert. His focus on my own life and trying to find a solution that best fit the life I wanted to live, not just 'a solution'. To put that into context I am a 19 year old male who lives for the game of rugby and physical exercise, the solutions to my problem offered to me in the past bypassed these preferences, unlike the solutions Mr Lambert proposed. I highly admire Mr Lambert, not only is he top class surgeon but he is also an amazing person, which is why the care his patients receive is second to none. He has every piece to the puzzle. I would give him my utmost recommendations and anyone who is lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit him should, he is simply outstanding.

I arrived a little late for my appointment as I got lost and it was pouring with rain. The receptionists were very kind and understanding and then Mr Lambert came down to say hello, also suggesting that another patient go in before me. This was the best decision and gave me time to compose myself. When I went up for my appointment I was welcomed by this polite, gentle man. I was very impressed with his manner and he talked me through, at great length, what the problem was with my shoulder and what he would recommend. I feel that I will be in good hands when I have the operation and I would highly recommend Mr Lambert.

Mr Lambert was very patient when taking details of the past and current problems with my shoulder. Examination was very gentle and he explained in great detail what surgery he proposed to do. He answered the many questions I asked him in a straightforward manner. I was accompanied by my son at the consultation and he spent a long time explaining things and reassuring both of us.

Mr Lambert made me feel very at ease and calm. He asked me lots of questions and took great care when examining my painful joint. He recommended great follow up care and was very helpful, and if I was to ever have another issue I would absolutely go back to see him!

I found it easy to make a booking ti see Mr Lambert after a 3 month delay waiting for the correct treatment n the NHS. I was seen promptly. I found Mr Lambert, professional, efficient, sympathetic and fully understood my issues. He told me exactly what was wrong and the initial course of treatment could be done tomorrow. This treatment followed and all of a sudden the 6 months of paid started to diminish. I would have no hesitation recommending Mr Lambert for any issues with regards to a shoulder problem. At al times I have had confidence and understanding with Mr Lambert and am prepared to put my trust in him

Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in the shoulder and elbow. I also hold an honorary academic appointment within University College London. Having worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), a specialist orthopaedic hospital, where I created a research-active, educationally-acclaimed, science-based service, integrated with and recognising the extreme importance of expert rehabilitation, I have now moved to University College London Hospital. We enjoy a national reputation for clinical excellence and clinical research, which I fully expect to contribute to over the next decade. We value our national and international collaborations, and expect to develop these further with the evolution of the service. As a component of this effort my work with the AO has offered opportunities to younger colleagues while bringing the values of the AO to a wide variety of surgeons and therapists. Truly international collaboration and exchange of ideas clearly enhances and promotes the efficacy of patient-directed care and forms the basis for the motivation behind my development of the shoulder and elbow service at UCLH.
